Le Pan Mini Help And Discussion / Amazon Underground App miss-behavior
« on: October 03, 2016, 04:45:26 AM »
Daughter brought her mini to me locking up. Finally had to hard factory reset. Started loading apps back, and it looks like Amazon Underground is the culprit. She only needed it to get Amazon Video to watch her Prime videos. I'll side-load the Amazon Video for her and set it to no auto-update. Question is, why do we need still another Amazon app just to get Amazon apps? And why such a screwy way to get it? I only have the store app since we don't have Prime, and if Amazon is going to continue such tactics that is all I'll have. Several years ago I pulled all Amazon app store apps because they wouldn't run without contacting Amazon each time.

Le Pan Apps / Kodi
« on: July 18, 2016, 02:16:50 PM »
Been playing with it this past weekend, and getting some pretty awesome movie, TV, etc. from it. Runs very well on the mini and Bluetooth headsets make it loud enough to hear, plus the Kodi app has a booster in it that can really crank the volume! Not experienced with the app yet but it has been a lot of fun this last weekend. We plan to dump cable TV soon, so this may be a large part of the substitution plan.

But first, I have to go up on the roof to mount an outside HDTV antenna so we can get our local broadcasts. Only 15 miles from most transmitters, but also 2 hills block us. Hoping an additional 10-15 ft will make a big difference.

Le Pan General Discussions / Is anything NEW coming out in the Le Pan line?

Seems pretty dead. The only Le Pan that I see for sale on the web is the Mini @ QVC. Seems we are in the doldrums this year.

Having stuck with flip-phones since the company got my first Startac, I really haven't followed the smart phones. I'm due to replace my present flip - a Samsung Rugby that has been pretty flawless and is still on its first battery. The smart phones available to us are an iphone 5, Galaxy 4, and a Galaxy Rugby Pro. I'm pretty hard on phones - wear it on my hip and often roll over it on concrete, bang it against equipment, drop them. Thinking the Rugby Pro would be best for me. Anyone here have experience with it? I really don't want to go the i-route and learn a new system (plus probably destroy it about the time I learn it). Mainly wanted for phone, text, and email. For the phone, I need the adaptive voice dial to be as good as this flip Rugby, so I can take and make calls on my motorcycle if needed (usually avoided).

Le Pan Connections / Ethernet extension to another (adjacent) house
« on: November 28, 2014, 08:42:18 PM »
The youngest daughter lives in a house about 100 meters down the hill from us. With my router in an upstairs window, she can get a minimal amount of wifi from it for email and light web surfing. I'd like to improve it for her so that she can get Netflix and Amazon video. Both houses receive AC power from the same transformer. Wondering if I could use ethernet-over-ac line system (like a TP-LINK TL-PA4010) to extend down to her? I'm also planning to take my spare router, which is already set up as repeater, down to the front of her house to see if it would help. Does any of the brain trust here have experience in this?

The LP2 was in a boot loop - all I could get it to do was reboot and set at the LePan logo. It had been slowing down over the previous hours. No indication of the cause. Hadn't added any new apps recently. Did a hard reset to try to get it back to normal, and it didn't come back.  Finally got to the boot menu, and tried clearing the cache and reboot - still hung. So, factory reset and still restoring software and settings. Luckily I've kept most things on the 32 Gb SD2. I pulled it for the reboot testing and didn't re-install until I had it back up. Very little lost except about 5 hours of time.

I had even gone to the point of ordering a new LP2 from the Amazon vendor Better Choice Online for $109.99, but was able to cancel it before it shipped when I finally got the tab booting.

Le Pan II Help And Discussion / Unfortunately, Torque has stopped
« on: March 10, 2014, 05:01:16 PM »

Any ideas? LP2, over 2 years old. Been using Torque most of that time. Been over six months since the last use, though. Tried update, uninstall, reinstall, uninstall-reset-reinstall. Torque Lite runs fine, Pro no-go. Gives the error immediately. Oh yeah, running stock - no root. 4.04

Le Pan S Help And Discussion / S failure
« on: January 10, 2014, 05:54:29 PM »
The S we bought for the oldest daughter (making it our 4th LP - 2xS and 2xII) wouldn't start for her today. She has been cautioned about the delicate charge connection, and treats it gently. She brought it over this evening. Her charger seems to satisfy my LP2 with charging, but I've placed her tablet on my charger for now. So far,all it does is the double-vibrate when holding the power button. I've tried combination salutes of power, reset, and both up and down volume. So far no joy.

I'll leave it on my charger tonight to see if it magically starts in the morning.
