Nice case for the Le Pan Mini
« on: December 20, 2013, 01:39:17 AM »
I actually bought this case for a different tablet but it fits the tc802a perfect.  It's the Gizmo Dorks 8" Universal Folio

Nice.  I went to big lots and took my mini in with me.  They didn't have anything that would fit except a sleeve.  The lp mini is just a little longer than an iPad mini so it won't quite fit their cases.

this one uses plastic corner tabs on elastic arms. It is supposed to be universal 7-8". But the Afunta is more square and hangs out the top. The Mini being a mor 16x9, if you will, layout is perfect.

It definitely needs a case.  The aluminum back is cold andvthe corners are sharp.  It would be much easier to hold in a case.  This thing is super light and amazingly thin!

Went to Walmart and tore through their cases.  Found 2 that fit.  Bought one of these.  Fits perfectly.  Camera cut out is close but needs to trimmed out a bit.  The speaker hole can be cut into the insidepanel and doesn't show on the outside.  All ports are open but the elastic covers the power button and volume rocker.  Yo can still see them and they are still usable.  Very nice case!

I'll post pictures later. The Walmart version is slightly different but the pictures of this one are better.

This is the one I use on the Nextbook 8HD, and it seems generic enough that it may indeed work with the LePan mini 8 as well.

I went to walmart today and took my Le Pan mini with me.  I went through all the cases they had on hand to see which ones would fit.  I found 2 that worked well.

BELKIN CHAMBRAY TAB COVER WITH STAND
for ipad mini
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Belkin-Chambray-Tab-Cover-with-Stand-for-iPad-mini-Khaki/22614644

This is the case I bought.  It was 30 bucks which is way more than I will usually spend on a case but I was getting sweaty palms carrying it around unprotected.  The camera hole is really close to being in the right place.  A little trimming will fix that.  A cut out for the speaker on the interior support board is all the modification you have to do.

My Case in stand position.  All ports are accessible but the elastic strap covers the Power button and Volume rocker.  Works fine though and you can charge it with the cover closed.

The case closed.  There is a strong magnetic clasp that keeps the case closed securely.

The camera hole is sooo close!

I used a grommet punch to cut the hole for the speaker.

Here is the box if you want to buy one.

BELKIN CLASSIC COVER
for ipad mini

This is just a basic book cover. The camera hole lined up perfectly though. This one cost about 20 bucks.

Le Pan Mini dimensions
 141 x 200 x 8 mm (5.55 x 7.87 x 0.31 inches)
Square corners

iPad mini dimensions
134.7 x 200 x 7.5 mm (5.3 x 7.87 x 0.29 inch)
Rounded corners

Le Pan mini is very close in size to an iPad mini.  Many cases with elastic corner straps should fit.

If you are looking for a simple portfolio style case for the mini, a Padfolio case made for 8x5 inch memo pads of paper is a possible option.

Where the pad of paper would normally go,  install a couple strips of reusable tape strips to secure the tablet. (same as some smartphone cases use)

I used two 1x5 inch strips of AirStick Mircosuction tape to hold the tablet in place. You can remove and replace the tablet as many times as youd like and it does not leave a residue.

The positives large selection of 8x5 Padfolio cases out there to choose from and since the tablet is held in place by the reusable strips on the back, all of the buttons and port are left uncovered.

The negatives no camera holes in the cases and the Airstick tape can be a bit expensive.  (Im sure there are less expensive alternatives out there as well)

Picture of the $9 padfolio case I bought at Walmart.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion Mark.  That is a good idea.  Regarding the speaker hole you can buy a grommet kit at any hardware store and the little metal punch included with the kit is perfect for cutting out holes for speakers and cameras.

I had to read through this entire thread to understand your post.  I get it now.  It took a lot of reflection to figure it out.

Years of buying used electronics you begin to realize the truth, sometimes naked truth, about photography and reflective surfaces.  There was a tablet that I am sure once the woman realized why I said. "....by the way I love your tat." she was freaked and embarrassed.
