How to build an internet radio stereo system, Cheap!!
« on: January 11, 2015, 07:56:38 PM »

You can build an awesome internet stereo system perfect for the garage, patio or any room of your house for about 10.00.  (assuming you already have a tablet pc)

Most thrift stores have tons of used computer speakers.  Find a pair of powered stereo speakers that have their own power supply and include a sub woofer.
Plug it in to your tablet (I use my Le Pan mini for this) and boom, there you go.  Great stereo sound ready rock the roof off your house, patio or garage.

I have the set pictured above in my garage.  Even though it is a small set it is more than enough for that space.  In my backyard I have a JBL surround sound system that really booms and inhances tequilla consumption when playing my Jimmy Buffet mix on Pandora.

Tips on buying speakers at the thrift store.
1.Take your smart phone with you
2. Find a pair of speakers with a power supply and sub woofer.  It is not uncommon for them to separate the sets so you might find the speakers in one location and the sub woofer or power supply a couple shelves over.
3. Once you have gathered together a matching set find the testing electrical outlets.  Most thrift stores have them.  Plug the speakers, power supply and sub woofer all together and plug the mini headphone jack into your phone.  Play a few songs to test them out.

Sound good?  take em home and set em up.

Fancy bluetooth speakers are great but if you are going to set up a stationary system you can't beat an old pair of computer speakers.
