Chromecast, Le Pan and local content

The good news is Chromecast has enabled screen mirroring on devices running android 4.4.2 or higher.  That means whatever you can see on your tablet screen is projected onto the TV.  The bad news is the newest version of android available on a Le Pan tablet is Jellybean 4.2.2.  Hummm, what to do!

Well there are a ton of apps available for Chromecast now and even though you can't do direct screen mirroring you can enjoy all your local content on the big screen.

I've been experimenting with AllCast this morning.  (Brought you by the good folks at Clockworkmod).  A super easy user interface that will allow you to play or view whatever is on your device.  It will even cast your Dropbox, Google+, and Google Drive content.  Better still you can run it in the background while you do other things.  I am writing this on my Le Pan Mini while my Dropbox camera uploads are playing a slideshow on the TV.

The free version of AllCast has a 5 minute time limit. For 5 bucks you can buy the pro version for unlimited use.  Well worth it if you ask me.
