Chromecast enables screen mirroring on select devices.

(1/1)

JohnA2u:
The latest update to the chromecast app has a "mirror screen" option for select devices.    Luckily it is available for my Galaxy S5 phone, so I have had a chance to try it out.

It works!  It will project my phone screen to the TV no matter what I am viewing.  Xfinity  tv go app works, so I can Chromecast all my cable shows to the tv.

I can look at pictures through the gallery and share them on the TV at the same time.

Anything I can view on my phone can project to my tv.  It is fast and the images are clear.  Video seems to play without a hitch.

This is a great new feature that I am sure will come in handy from time to time.

I tried copying the apk  and porting it to other devices but it doesn't seem to work.  So I don't think I can share this one.

Hi John,
Camanokid here.
My Nexus 5 with Lollipop has a built-in Casting feature.
Some apps come with a casting option on the app screen. I can easily attach to Chromecast and the app will display on the TV screen. (eg YouTube)
If  the app does not have a cast icon, I can start the Cast feature in Lollipop Settings and it will mirror to the TV. I did this with Quickpic (which does not have a built-in Cast icon).
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Hi Camanokid, yes Netflix youtube etc work great with the chromecast.  Screen mirroring is a new feature.  It works great with my s5.its not avaliable for my tab pro running 4.4,2 yet though. I just checked the cast screen function and it's not finding my chromecast.  I guess that feature will come with chromecast or lollipop update.

Happy thanksgiving to you and yours as well.  We've known each other in this digital world for a long time now.
